PTCL Group, Pakistan’s leading ICT services provider, has announced the appointment of Tooran Asif as the new President & CEO of U Microfinance Bank Limited (UBank). With over 30 years of experience in digital and retail banking, Asif is set to lead the bank into a new era of growth and innovation.
Tooran Asif’s Banking Expertise
Before joining UBank, Tooran Asif served as CEO of KT Bank Pakistan Limited, a digital bank under formation. He has also held senior leadership roles at Mashreq Bank UAE, where he led consumer banking and played a key role in digital transformation. As CEO of Mashreq Al Islami, he strengthened Islamic banking services through enhanced digitalization.

His career includes leadership positions at globally recognized financial institutions such as Standard Chartered Bank, Citigroup, and ANZ Bank, giving him extensive experience in financial inclusion and business transformation. With a strong international background spanning Asia, the Middle East, and the UK, Asif holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.

Hatem Bamatraf, Chairman of U Microfinance Bank’s Board of Directors and President & Group CEO of PTCL & Ufone 4G, welcomed Tooran Asif and expressed confidence in his ability to drive the bank forward.
