After weeks of delays and limited communication, Google has officially announced the release timeline for its upcoming Pixel 9a. The midrange device, which was initially unveiled earlier this month, will begin rolling out across various countries starting in April.
Initial Availability in Select Markets
The Pixel 9a will be available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom beginning on April 10. This marks the start of the device’s global availability, following weeks of uncertainty and production setbacks.
Wider Launch
Following the initial release, the Pixel 9a will be launched on April 14 in several European countries, including Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Finland.

On April 16, the phone will be available in Australia, India, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia. While Japan is expected to get the Pixel 9a, the official release date for that market is yet to be announced.
Reason for Delay and Pricing
The Pixel 9a was initially slated to launch with a starting price of $499, but the exact release dates were unclear due to delays. These delays were reportedly caused by a component quality issue that affected a limited number of devices. Google postponed the release and held off on review embargoes as a precaution while addressing the problem.
Despite the delays, Google has assured that the issue was limited in scope. Review units have already been distributed, and more comprehensive feedback on the Pixel 9a’s performance and features is expected closer to its launch date.
