While we at NetMag prepare for our full review — including battery, charging, call quality, benchmark, and speaker tests — we’ve already captured some early side-by-side camera samples of the new Oppo Find X8 Ultra and its predecessor, the Find X7 Ultra.

📸 Camera Showdown: Oppo Find X8 Ultra vs Find X7 Ultra

Even though the Find X7 Ultra is a year older, it still holds its place as one of the most capable camera phones on the market. Some might even prefer its sophisticated design over the newer Find X8 Ultra. But design aside, the real highlight is camera performance.

Both smartphones are equipped with the same powerful 23mm f/1.8 primary camera using the 1-inch Sony LYT900 sensor. On the ultrawide front, the Find X7 Ultra leads on paper with a 14mm f/2.0 lens and a 1/1.95-inch sensor, compared to the 15mm f/2.0 / 1/2.75-inch sensor on the Find X8 Ultra.

🔭 Zoom Lens Evolution

The most significant upgrades come with the zoom lenses. The Find X8 Ultra steps up to a 70mm f/2.1 lens for midrange zoom, replacing the older 65mm f/2.6 on the Find X7 Ultra. This change allows for better light capture, sharper details, and improved performance in challenging lighting.

For longer distances, the 135mm telephoto lens on the Find X8 Ultra now features a 1/1.95-inch sensor and a brighter f/3.1 aperture — a notable upgrade from the Find X7 Ultra’s 1/2.51-inch sensor and f/4.3 aperture. These improvements significantly boost background blur and low-light image quality.

🧪 Real-World Camera Samples

In our early tests comparing ultrawide and wide-angle shots, the Find X8 Ultra showcased clear advancements:

  • Ultrawide shots: Despite a smaller sensor, the new model delivered cleaner images with remarkably low noise.
  • 1x wide shots: Both phones perform nearly identically, as expected from shared hardware, but the Find X8 Ultra edges ahead with enhanced micro-contrast and texture sharpness.
  • 3x and 6x zoom shots: Thanks to the new lens and sensor pairing, the Find X8 Ultra produces smoother bokeh and more natural subject isolation.

🏆 Final Thoughts

From what we’ve seen so far, Oppo has taken meaningful steps forward in camera hardware and image processing with the Find X8 Ultra. The Find X7 Ultra still holds its ground as one of the best camera phones, but the X8 Ultra clearly brings superior zoom, better background separation, and improved low-light capabilities.
