Motorola is gearing up to surprise fans with an unexpected addition to its popular Moto G lineup: the Moto G96. While all eyes were previously on the upcoming Moto G86, a fresh leak has revealed that a more powerful model may soon steal the spotlight.

Following the launches of the Edge 60 and Razr 60 series, Motorola appears to be shifting its focus back to its budget-friendly Moto G series. The Moto G86 had already generated buzz, thanks to its rumored 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and 50MP main camera, expected to debut in June 2025. But thanks to a leak by X user @evleaks, it’s now clear that the G86 might not be the crown jewel for long.

Enter the Moto G96—a new, top-tier model in the G-series family. Although Motorola hasn’t confirmed anything officially and no specifications or design details have emerged, the name alone hints at its elevated status above the G86. There’s speculation that the Moto G96 might feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, similar to the Edge 60, possibly making it a strong rival to the Poco X7, currently priced at ₹19,499 on Amazon.

Historically, Motorola’s G-series has not seen a U.S. launch since the Moto G100 in 2021, so American fans may be left out once again. Still, this new leak has reignited excitement among Moto fans worldwide.

For context, the Moto G85—the latest confirmed model—offers a 6.67-inch FHD+ P-OLED curved display, protected by Gorilla Glass 5, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor, dual 50MP + 8MP rear cameras, and a 5000mAh battery with 30W charging.

With Motorola continuing its aggressive G-series rollout, the launch timeline for the Moto G96 remains uncertain. Industry insiders suggest a possible release in late 2025 or early 2026. Rumors are swirling about next-gen specs, including a 200MP camera or 100W fast charging, but nothing is confirmed yet.

For now, fans will have to wait for more leaks and official announcements to see whether the Moto G96 will be the game-changer Motorola needs to dominate the mid-range market.
