The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) confiscated 5,850 kilograms of meat sourced from unhealthy chickens and fined five food businesses during a major crackdown at Tollinton Market on Monday.
The operation, led by PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid and LDA DG Tahir Farooq, involved inspections of 21 poultry shops, warehouses, and vehicles transporting chickens. A total of 146.25 maunds of contaminated meat was disposed of due to various poultry diseases, including eye infections, respiratory issues, and paralysis.

PFA’s meat safety task force imposed heavy fines on violators for breaching food safety laws. The authority has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public health, continuing province-wide inspections of milk and meat supplies through checkpoints.
