PTA Targets YouTube Channels Spreading Anti-State Content During Pakistan-India Tensions
Amid growing diplomatic and security tensions between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in coordination with the National Cyber Crimes Investigating Agency, has identified multiple YouTube channels accused of spreading hate speech and inciting unrest against national institutions.
According to the PTA, these channels have been actively disseminating provocative and inflammatory content targeting the country’s state institutions and military leadership during the recent spike in cross-border tensions. Citing concerns over national security and social cohesion, the PTA has submitted a comprehensive list of these channels to the federal government, requesting formal approval for an immediate ban within Pakistan.
Among those named in the list are well-known digital content creators and public figures including Imran Riaz, Sabir Shakir, Siddique Jan, and Shahbaz Gill. These individuals are accused of promoting anti-state narratives and disinformation campaigns, further inflaming public sentiment at a sensitive time.

As part of preliminary action, the PTA has already blocked the YouTube channels of Ahmed Noorani and Waqar Malik. The authority stated that the technical preparations for nationwide access restriction to the remaining channels have been completed. However, formal implementation is pending federal approval.
In parallel, the PTA has also shared its findings with YouTube, urging the platform to review the flagged content under its global community standards and policies on hate speech, misinformation, and incitement to violence.
Authorities emphasized the need for swift digital enforcement to prevent the escalation of misinformation and to maintain stability during a period of increased geopolitical strain and heightened national sensitivity.
