As Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 moves into the high-stakes playoff stage, a critical element remains missing—the Decision Review System (DRS). Despite its crucial role in modern-day cricket for ensuring fairness and accuracy, the technology has been absent since the league resumed and is unlikely to return for the rest of the tournament, including the knockout matches.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not issued an official statement detailing the cause, insiders suggest the recent Pakistan-India tensions may have impacted the availability of the international broadcast team responsible for operating DRS. It appears this team has not traveled to Pakistan for the resumed portion of the PSL.

This is a significant setback for a tournament once seen as a pioneer in cricketing innovation. The PSL was the first T20 franchise league to introduce DRS, using it during the 2017 playoffs—a year before the Indian Premier League followed suit.

The absence of DRS at a time when the tournament is witnessing record scores and nail-biting finishes has sparked criticism and concern among fans and analysts. With the playoffs around the corner, many in the cricketing community are urging the PCB to explore last-minute alternatives. Otherwise, match results will depend solely on on-field umpiring decisions—errors DRS was specifically designed to mitigate.
