The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken a major step to boost tourism in Islamabad by approving consultancy services for three major recreational projects: a theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system.
During its 75th meeting on Tuesday, the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) gave the green light for PC-II level projects to hire consultants for conducting feasibility studies and preparing detailed designs.
According to an official statement, the consultancy approvals include:
- Theme Park: Feasibility and design services approved at Rs. 206 million.
- Ferris Wheel: Study and design services allocated Rs. 61.8 million.
- Cable Car Project: Consultancy approved at an estimated Rs. 197.76 million.

Officials noted that with Islamabad’s population surpassing two million and its rising popularity as a tourist destination, there is an increasing demand for modern recreational infrastructure. The feasibility studies and designs are expected to be completed within six months. Final implementation will depend on the reports and further approvals.
