Xiaomi is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the upcoming launch of the YU7 SUV, targeting China’s competitive EV market. The new model will be officially revealed at a product launch event this Thursday, where the company will also showcase its latest technological advancements.
Challenging Tesla’s Dominance
Industry experts believe the YU7 is Xiaomi’s direct answer to Tesla’s Model Y, one of the top-selling electric SUVs in China. Designed as a compact electric SUV, the YU7 aims to build on the momentum of Xiaomi’s first EV, the SU7 sedan, which has consistently outperformed Tesla’s Model 3 in monthly sales since its launch in December.

However, Xiaomi faces increased scrutiny following a fatal accident involving the SU7 earlier this year, raising concerns about safety.

More Tech Unveils at Launch Event
In addition to the YU7, Xiaomi will introduce the Xring O1 mobile chipset and the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone. These releases emphasize the brand’s push toward a unified tech ecosystem combining smart devices, mobile platforms, and electric vehicles.
