The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to commence construction on the long-awaited Shaheen Chowk underpass, a crucial infrastructure project aimed at alleviating daily traffic congestion near Islamabad’s prominent educational institutions.
According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the design phase of the underpass is nearing completion, and ground-breaking is expected to begin soon. He highlighted the strategic importance of the project, particularly for students, university staff, and residents who frequently face severe traffic bottlenecks in the area.
CDA officials have confirmed that the underpass is part of a larger initiative to upgrade the capital’s road infrastructure. Once completed, the Shaheen Chowk underpass will significantly reduce travel time, improve inter-sector connectivity, and offer smoother access to key roads in Islamabad.
