The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatstroke advisory for Karachi as the city faces soaring temperatures exceeding 40°C amid a severe heatwave.

According to PMD, hot and dry conditions continue to impact the city, with humidity recorded at 61 percent on Wednesday. The absence of sea breeze has intensified the heat, significantly increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke. Citizens are strongly advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., stay hydrated, and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

A PMD spokesperson reported that strong southeast winds, blowing at speeds of 25 to 35 km/h, are expected to persist throughout the day. Partial restoration of sea breeze is anticipated by evening. However, there is no likelihood of rain in Karachi, and the forecast remains clear and hot for the coming days.

Similar weather patterns are being observed across much of Sindh and Balochistan, where the heatwave is likely to continue. In Punjab, while high temperatures prevail, scattered showers may occur later in the day. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also experiencing hot conditions with expected rainfall in some northern districts. Islamabad is forecast to remain hot and dry during the day with possible rain and wind later in the evening. Meanwhile, regions of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to see rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, bringing slight relief from the ongoing heat.
