Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed direct flights between Dubai and Skardu, with operations starting on Friday, May 30, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance tourism to the breathtaking northern region of Pakistan and strengthen travel links with the United Arab Emirates.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at PIA’s Dubai office, attended by Consul General H.E. Hussain Muhammad and a group of international tourists booked on the first flight. PIA representatives noted a growing global interest in Skardu as a travel destination.
Regional Manager Sarmad Aizaz and his team organized the event, emphasizing the route’s importance in fostering closer people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the UAE. The Dubai-Skardu connection is part of PIA’s broader expansion strategy.

Additionally, the national carrier has announced a new direct weekly flight from Lahore to Paris, set to begin on June 18. This will complement PIA’s existing two weekly flights from Islamabad to the French capital.
According to airline officials, these new international routes aim to increase travel convenience for passengers and contribute positively to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.
