The Punjab government has officially begun the registration process for its E-Taxi program, a key initiative under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Green & Clean Transport vision.

This pilot project, launched in collaboration with the Transport and Mass Transit Department and the Bank of Punjab, is set to introduce electric taxis in Lahore as an affordable, safe, and eco-friendly solution for urban mobility.

As part of the initiative, the department is inviting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), authorized local dealers, distributors, and joint ventures to register electric vehicle (EV) models that meet the minimum technical and safety requirements for taxi operations.

The goal is to develop a reference list of approved EVs that comply with essential safety, performance, and operational standards. Interested parties must submit their applications, including relevant documentation, to the Transport and Mass Transit Department by 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Submissions are to be delivered to 11-A Egerton Road, Lahore.

To support the adoption of electric vehicles, the government is offering a financial assistance package that includes equity contribution support, a five-year bank-financed loan, and partial coverage of registration charges.

Buyers will be able to choose from an approved list of vehicles. Financing of up to Rs. 6.5 million per vehicle will be available, with any additional cost to be borne by the buyer.

A clarification meeting for interested applicants is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the department’s committee room. Meeting details and further information will also be shared on the department’s official website. Guidelines and eligibility documents can be accessed at: https://transport.punjab.gov.pk
