The PTA continues to enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy against the illegal modification of mobile device identifiers. IMEI tampering and the sale of cloned phones are serious threats to national security and public safety, as they facilitate anonymity for criminal activity including cybercrime, financial fraud, and abductions.

The PTA has called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to mobile phone cloning or tampering. The authority emphasizes that regulatory actions are being intensified and violators will face severe legal consequences.
