The initiative aims to restart and expand steel production at the Karachi-based facility, which has been non-operational for several years. “Reviving PSM with Russia’s support reflects our shared history and commitment to a stronger industrial future,” said Haroon Akhtar Khan during the ceremony.
Pakistan Steel Mills, originally established with Soviet support in 1971, stands as a symbol of Pakistan-Russia friendship. The modernization project is expected to enhance production capacity, generate employment, and contribute to Pakistan’s industrial self-sufficiency.
