The federal government has once again raised the prices of petroleum products, marking the third consecutive hike in recent weeks.

As per the latest notification issued by the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs. 5.36, setting the new rate at Rs. 272.15 per liter. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised by a significant Rs. 11.37, bringing it to Rs. 284.35 per liter.

This follows the last fortnightly price review, during which petrol was increased by Rs. 8.36, taking it to Rs. 266.79, and HSD was hiked by Rs. 10.39, reaching Rs. 272.98.

Earlier, in the mid-June price revision, the government had also raised prices—petrol by Rs. 4.80 and diesel by Rs. 7.95 per liter.

These frequent price adjustments are raising concerns among the public and business community, as they are expected to contribute to higher inflation, increased transportation costs, and a heavier financial burden on households.
