Pakistani cricket fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Pakistan Television (PTV) has secured the broadcast rights for the 2025 Asia Cup, ending months of uncertainty and intense negotiations. PTV will now air the tournament across the country, ensuring fans won’t miss a moment of the action.

The agreement grants PTV exclusive TV broadcasting rights for all Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events from 2025 to 2027. This includes the Men’s Asia Cup tournaments in 2025 and 2027, the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, and the U19 and Emerging Asia Cup competitions. With this deal, Pakistani audiences are guaranteed access to every major ACC cricket event over the next three years.

The acquisition follows a prolonged and challenging negotiation with the Indian rights holder, which had signed a $170 million pan-Asia media rights deal valid until 2031. Sources revealed that the Indian broadcaster had set “exorbitant” financial terms for Pakistani networks, which, coupled with declining ad revenues and political tensions, had made a deal seem unlikely.

At one point, industry insiders feared a complete blackout of the tournament in Pakistan. No single broadcaster appeared able to meet the cost demands, and a joint consortium or alternative arrangement seemed the only hope. Despite these roadblocks, PTV stepped up to secure the rights, marking a major win for both the state broadcaster and cricket fans nationwide.

Earlier this year, a Pakistan-based consortium had already secured digital streaming rights for around $4.3 million, but it was the TV rights deal that remained unresolved—until now.

With this landmark agreement in place, PTV is set to broadcast all ACC content, ensuring uninterrupted coverage of Asia’s top cricket battles. As the 2025 Asia Cup draws near, the deal provides a timely morale boost for cricket lovers and strengthens the local broadcasting ecosystem during a financially strained period.
