Islamabad, August 22 – In a shocking incident early Friday morning, two Islamabad police officers were violently assaulted, held hostage, and robbed at gunpoint while responding to a disturbance call in Sector E-11.

According to official reports, the attack took place around 4:15 a.m. when Assistant Sub-Inspector Khushhal Ahmed and Constable Muqaddar arrived at Apartment 402 following a tip-off from the Safe City surveillance system.

Upon entering the apartment, the officers were confronted by a group of 15 to 20 armed men, allegedly led by Asim Jahangir — a wanted criminal linked to multiple cases. The suspects turned hostile, overpowering the officers and beating them with the butts of their weapons.

The attackers seized both official and personal items from the officers, including a police wireless set, mobile phones, and wallets containing cash. Before fleeing, the assailants fired several warning shots and threatened the officers against reporting the crime.

The gunfire triggered panic among local residents, with many locking themselves inside their apartments. After the suspects fled the scene, the injured officers called for reinforcements and were later shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for medical treatment.

A case has been registered under the Pakistan Penal Code and the Anti-Terrorism Act. In a follow-up operation, police arrested six suspects, although Asim Jahangir remains at large.
