Celebrity chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he recently underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer.
Ramsay, famous for his fiery personality on shows like Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef, shared a photo of his face with a bandage under his ear, thanking doctors for their swift medical care. In a lighthearted note, he assured fans, “And no, it’s not a facelift! I’d be asking for a refund.”
Alongside his recovery update, Ramsay issued an important reminder: “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend.”

His announcement prompted an outpouring of support from fans and celebrities, including Judge Robert Rinder. Cancer Research UK also praised Ramsay for raising awareness, emphasizing the importance of sun protection, including seeking shade, covering exposed skin, and applying sunscreen regularly.
Basal cell carcinoma commonly appears on sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, and hands. While it is treatable, it is directly linked to prolonged ultraviolet (UV) exposure from the sun or tanning beds.
Ramsay, whose restaurants have earned 17 Michelin stars over the years, remains one of the world’s most successful chefs and TV personalities. His culinary empire and media presence have made him a household name, with his net worth estimated at $70 million in 2020.
