Choosing a reliable smart TV is more than just selecting the right screen size — long-term performance matters, too. Consumer Reports recently identified six TV brands that consistently deliver durability and value over time.
According to Consumer Reports, LG tops the list for reliability, with users praising its OLED models for picture quality, wide viewing angles, and long-term dependability. Notably, the LG G4 OLED and LG OLED evo AI C5 models scored highly for performance.
Sony came in second place. The brand’s latest TVs, like the Bravia 8 II with XR Processor, impressed reviewers with their sharp visuals, strong sound, and adaptive brightness for Netflix content.
Budget-friendly Insignia also performed well in the study. With its Fire TV-enabled 4K models, the brand offers solid reliability at a lower price point — even scoring above Samsung in Consumer Reports’ metrics.

Meanwhile, Samsung remains a major contender, placing fourth on the reliability list. Its OLED and QLED models, such as the S95F and S95D, continue to stand out for brightness, graphics, and long-term performance.
Consumer Reports also highlighted Philips, particularly a 65-inch OLED 120 Hz model with Roku OS, for its consistent reliability and smart features. Despite being less common, Philips matched Samsung in brand reliability scores.
Finally, Hisense earned praise for its range of smart TVs, from Mini-LED to Google TV models. The company’s budget-friendly design, display variety, and reliable hardware secured it a place on the list.
