A surprising new location-tracking glitch on social media platform X has sparked chaos online, exposing dozens of accounts allegedly involved in anti-Pakistan propaganda. While the company has not officially confirmed the rollout of any such feature, screenshots shared by users triggered intense debate over privacy, accuracy of location data, and the broader implications for digital transparency.

The unexpected revelations caused a storm across the platform as users discovered numerous accounts engaging in political manipulation under fake identities. Many profiles—believed to be operated from India—were found impersonating Israelis, Baloch activists, or critics of Islam and Pakistan. Despite hiding their true origins, these accounts had amassed massive followings and were actively spreading hate speech, Islamophobia, and misleading content aimed at destabilizing Pakistan’s online narrative.

One such account included former cricketer Danish Kaneria’s profile, widely known for its anti-Pakistan posts, which users claimed was shown operating from India. Similarly, the account of Taliban spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi (@QaharBalkhi) was also traced back to India. Activist Mahrang Baloch’s profile appeared with a Singapore location tag, while a pro-Israel account named “Al Faris Emirati,” pretending to be from the UAE, was also revealed to be linked to India.

These discoveries fueled widespread concern as these accounts have played a significant role in spreading fabricated claims, doctored videos, and targeted misinformation. The sudden visibility of their actual locations—whether accurate or caused by a system glitch—has intensified discussions around online manipulation, digital surveillance, and the responsibility of social platforms in curbing propaganda networks.
