New currency notes Pakistan are reportedly being sold in the black market at inflated rates despite assurances from the State Bank of Pakistan that fresh notes are available through official banking channels for Eid-ul-Fitr.

As the festive season approaches, demand for crisp currency notes has surged across the country. Taking advantage of this, unauthorized traders have started selling fresh note bundles at premium prices in various markets, raising concerns among the public.

The State Bank of Pakistan has clarified that fresh currency notes are being distributed through commercial banks and ATMs, urging citizens to avoid illegal purchases and rely only on official sources.

Despite these assurances, reports indicate that the black market for new currency notes remains active in several areas, with sellers charging extra for commonly used denominations typically distributed during Eid.

The demand for fresh notes traditionally spikes during Eid-ul-Fitr, as people exchange “Eidi” with family and children. This seasonal demand often creates opportunities for illegal practices and market exploitation.

Authorities have warned that strict action may be taken against those involved in the unauthorized sale of currency notes, emphasizing the importance of maintaining transparency and fair distribution.
