Dell has officially brought back its popular XPS 13 lineup with a significantly lower starting price, positioning the premium laptop as a direct competitor to Apple’s recently launched MacBook Neo. The move signals Dell’s aggressive push into the affordable premium laptop segment, particularly targeting students and young professionals.

The new XPS 13 starts at $699 for regular consumers, while eligible students can purchase it for as low as $599 during the back-to-school season. Dell says the laptop is designed to offer a premium computing experience without the high price traditionally associated with flagship ultrabooks.

According to Dell, the latest XPS 13 is the thinnest and lightest model in the series to date. The laptop weighs approximately 2.2 pounds and features a slim aluminum chassis, making it even lighter than Apple’s MacBook Neo. It also includes a larger display and several premium features aimed at enhancing productivity and entertainment.

The device comes equipped with Intel’s latest processors and offers features such as a 2.5K touchscreen display, backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, quad speakers, and fast USB-C ports. Dell is also expected to introduce higher-end variants later this year with more powerful Intel Core Ultra processors and increased memory configurations.

Dell’s decision to relaunch the XPS 13 reflects its broader strategy to compete more effectively across multiple price categories in the PC market. Industry analysts believe the company is responding to growing consumer demand for premium yet affordable laptops, a segment that has gained momentum following the success of Apple’s MacBook Neo.

The return of the XPS branding also follows Dell’s earlier efforts to revive the iconic lineup after experimenting with alternative product naming strategies. By bringing back one of its most recognized laptop brands and pairing it with aggressive pricing, Dell hopes to strengthen its position in the highly competitive consumer PC market.

With sleek design, lightweight construction, and a more accessible price point, the new XPS 13 is shaping up to be one of Dell’s most important laptop launches in recent years, setting the stage for a fresh rivalry with Apple in the premium entry-level notebook segment.
