iPhone users in Pakistan may finally get official 5G support next year, as Apple is reportedly planning to enable 5G services for Pakistani users in 2027 after evaluating the local market.
According to officials from the Ministry of IT and Telecom, Apple has informed Pakistani authorities that it is currently assessing the country’s market conditions before officially activating 5G compatibility on iPhones. While Pakistan has already launched commercial 5G services through major telecom operators, Apple devices still do not fully support local 5G networks.
Pakistan officially entered the 5G era earlier this year after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) completed the country’s largest-ever 5G spectrum auction. Jazz and Zong were the first telecom operators to commercially launch 5G services, followed by Ufone’s rollout plans.
Although some reports suggested limited 5G functionality had started appearing on certain iPhone models through specific network configurations, Apple has not yet officially enabled nationwide support for Pakistani carriers.

Officials say one of the biggest challenges remains Pakistan’s high taxes on imported smartphones, especially iPhones. Heavy PTA and customs taxes have significantly reduced Apple’s market share in the country, making Pakistan a relatively smaller market for the company.
Meanwhile, several Android smartphone brands, including Samsung, already support 5G connectivity in Pakistan. Telecom operators are continuing to expand coverage across major cities as the country gradually upgrades its digital infrastructure.
Experts believe official iPhone 5G support could improve user experience for premium smartphone users in Pakistan and encourage wider adoption of next-generation mobile services across the country.
