After Netflix greenlit “Squid Game” as “its biggest reality contest ever,” “Squid Game The Challenge”, the streaming giant has made “Squid Game” a real television series. However, unlike the characters, the lives of the contestants will not be at risk.

Participants in the 456-player contest will not be able to collect the $4.56million winnings. This is, Netflix claims, the biggest lump-sum prize in reality television history.

After its September 2021 release, “Squid Game,” which saw over 1.65 billion hours of viewing in its first 28-days, became Netflix’s most-watched show. It was the story of cash-strapped contestants playing childhood games in order to win huge amounts of money.

According to the Netflix, the reality competition will consist of 10 episodes and games that are inspired by the original series as well as new additions of Squid Game.
