I’m curious about what the process was to come up with this feature and then implemented. Was the team behind the feature thinking of Clubhouse and Twitter’s Spaces initiative? It would be funny to see WhatsApp as well as its developers joined onto a bandwagon that’s currently fast approaching disintegrating.
The clubhouse hasn’t been as popular as it was in the past due to the novelty wears off and an increase in white supremacists as well as nationalists. There’s no need for Twitter to include an add-on for podcasts, which could hurt Spaces.
As a society it is likely that we erred when podcasts were commercialized.
WhatsApp’s audio statuses may not be as in the spirit of Clubhouse since they’re not live and could be limited in time.
Rarely are people recording hours-long vocal messages using the social network platform for messaging However, I’m sure that at least one has tried it. Voice messages are now added to the status of a user.

The new feature was first mentioned during the 2.22.16.3 release, as per WABetaInfo.
I’m counting the most recent update as the first official release because it didn’t have an interface.
Users aren’t able to access the beta as the feature is currently under development. WAB is running the latest version, but the UI isn’t as fresh.
It is based on the status update screen with text and also has the option to record your voice.
To record, press the button and then start talking, similar to recording a WhatsApp Voice message.
The feature is currently being developed and there is no date for release the final product might appear very different.
