Just months following the global launch of the OnePlus 12, the renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer has introduced its latest budget-friendly offering, the Nord CE4. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Nord CE3, the CE4 brings significant upgrades including a larger camera sensor, a more powerful chipset, and one of the most capacious batteries ever seen in OnePlus phones.

Design and Display

Retaining the 6.7-inch OLED display with a 1080p resolution from its predecessor, the CE4 now boasts a slightly taller aspect ratio of over 20:9. The display still supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and can render 1 billion colors with HDR10+ compatibility. Notably, it now carries an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, a first for the Nord CE series. Additionally, the Aqua Touch feature, borrowed from the OnePlus 12 series, enables touch detection even when the screen is wet.

Internals and Software

The Nord CE4 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a significant upgrade over the previous generation, offering enhanced GPU performance and efficiency gains due to its newer 4nm fabrication process. It comes in an 8 GB RAM variant, with the 12 GB version discontinued. Storage options include 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via microSD card. Out of the box, the device runs on Oxygen OS 14 based on Android 14.

Cameras

While the Nord CE3 featured a flagship-grade Sony IMX890 sensor, the CE4 opts for the newer LYT-600 sensor with 50MP resolution. The 8MP ultrawide shooter complements the primary camera, and all cameras benefit from OnePlus’s updated image processing algorithms. The front-facing 16MP selfie camera remains unchanged. Video recording capabilities include 1080p at 60 FPS and 4K at 30 FPS.

Battery and Pricing

The Nord CE4 houses a massive 5,500 mAh battery, matching the capacity of the OnePlus 12R and supporting 100W SuperVOOC charging technology. Despite the increased battery size, the device achieves a full charge from 1 to 100% in just 29 minutes, down from 31 minutes for its predecessor. The inclusion of the Battery Health Engine ensures prolonged battery lifespan, capable of enduring up to 4 years of charging cycles. The device is priced at $300 in India.
