Astronomy expert Javaid Iqbal has made a significant prediction regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon in Pakistan for Eidul Fitr 2024. According to Iqbal, Ramadan will last for 29 days this year, aligning the celebration of Eid with Saudi Arabia.
The birth of the Shawwal moon is expected on the night of April 8th at 11:40 PM. Coincidentally, April 8th marks the 29th day of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

In Pakistan, the new moon’s age will be 20 hours by April 9th, suggesting favorable conditions for the Eid moon sighting, provided the skies remain clear. As April 9th corresponds to the 29th day of Ramadan in Pakistan, and the 30th day in Saudi Arabia, it’s highly likely that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated simultaneously in both regions on Wednesday, April 10th.
It’s worth noting that in the preceding year, 2023, Pakistan observed a complete 30 days of fasting.
