According to reliable sources, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission has expressed dissatisfaction with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) regarding the implementation of the track and trace system. These concerns were raised during ongoing discussions between the IMF and FBR officials regarding tax structure and administration.

The IMF has reportedly asked for a detailed report on the implementation status of the track and trace system and has set a deadline for its full adoption in five key sectors of the country. The IMF is pushing for the system to be fully operational by the next fiscal year.
While discussions remain focused on policy matters, both parties have agreed to expedite reforms aimed at broadening the tax base and curbing tax evasion.
Sources indicate that the IMF Mission will propose additional plans to address revenue shortfalls during today’s discussions.
