The Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) is set to introduce a National Digital Skills Policy aimed at addressing the global demand for skilled IT professionals in emerging technologies.

MoITT officials state that the policy will create a comprehensive framework to train IT professionals for the international market. This initiative is driven by the growing need for expertise in advanced ICT fields. To meet this demand, the IT Ministry is launching High Impact Skills Boot Camps, which will provide intensive training in critical new ICT technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and blockchain technology. These specialized training programs aim to develop a workforce capable of tackling the challenges of the modern digital landscape.

The IT Ministry is collaborating closely with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ensure IT graduates have the necessary skills, knowledge, and attributes to thrive in the rapidly evolving IT industry. This partnership seeks to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements, facilitating a seamless transition for graduates into the workforce.

The longstanding Digiskills program, managed by the IT Ministry, has already made significant progress in equipping young people with the latest IT and freelancing skills. This initiative has empowered thousands of individuals with the tools needed to succeed in the digital economy. The National Digital Skills Policy will set specific goals, identify key areas of focus, and establish clear targets to ensure a cohesive effort in equipping the youth with new skills. Through this policy, the ministry aims to position the nation as a leader in the global IT industry, ensuring its workforce is prepared to meet future demands.
