Due to the  impending cyclone in the Arabian Sea, Karachi’s administration has enforced a three-day ban on public access to beaches and coastal areas. This decision follows heavy rainfall and multiple warnings issued by the Meteorological Department. The ban, effective from today until August 31, has been imposed under Section 144 by the Commissioner of Karachi. It restricts all beach-related activities, including swimming, diving, and sightseeing, as recommended by the Deputy Commissioners of South and Kemari districts. Authorities have been directed to strictly enforce the ban, with violators facing severe penalties. In the last 24 hours, Gulshan Hadeed recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 62mm, accumulating 128mm over the past 72 hours. Other areas such as Surjani Town, Nazimabad, and Kemari also reported significant rainfall.

Additional rainfall figures over the past 24 hours include Surjani Town with 30mm, Nazimabad with 26mm, and Kemari with 21mm. Several other areas across Karachi also experienced varied rainfall levels: Faisal Base recorded 14mm, Orangi 13.1mm, Saddar 13mm, the Meteorological Complex 12.2mm, Old Airport 11.6mm, Gulshan Mamar 11.1mm, Jinnah Terminal 9.6mm, PAF Masroor Base 9mm, and Korangi 8.2mm. The widespread precipitation highlights the city’s vulnerability to the approaching cyclone, prompting local authorities to take proactive measures in order to prevent potential disasters.

As the storm approaches, the city’s emergency services and disaster management teams are on high alert, ready to respond to any incidents arising from the severe weather. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding. The Karachi administration is coordinating with various agencies to monitor the situation closely and ensure public safety.
