The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new alert concerning Cyclone ‘ASNA’. The cyclone, which originated as a deep depression over the Rann of Kutch coast, is currently situated approximately 170 km south of Karachi and 88 km south of Thatta district. It is moving westwards and is expected to continue its west/northwest trajectory.

According to the latest advisory, widespread rain and thunderstorms are anticipated. The Karachi division and several districts—including Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Hyderabad, T.M Khan, T.A Yar, Matiari, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, and Shaheed Benazirabad—are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall until August 31st.

Heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas across Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab on Saturday. The Met Office has also warned of potential flash flooding in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and local streams in Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Kalat, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Loralai, Awaran, Panjgur, Washuk, Mastung, and Lasbella.
