Samsung is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series in two weeks, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra leading the pack. The Ultra model will feature rounded corners and a built-in S Pen, maintaining Samsung’s commitment to the stylus experience. However, recent leaks from Ishan Agarwal suggest that long-time fans may be disappointed with a significant change to the S Pen: the removal of Bluetooth functionality.
Bluetooth Functionality Removed
Samsung plans to eliminate Bluetooth from the S Pen, reducing its functionality considerably. Without Bluetooth, users will lose access to Air Actions, which allow for gesture-based commands and remote control features. These include functions like taking photos with a single press, switching cameras with a double press, and changing photo modes with swipe gestures.
Air Actions also offer tasks such as Back, Home, Recent Apps, and Smart Select by simply waving the stylus. These features have been available across various devices, including the Galaxy Note series, Galaxy Z Fold models, and flagship tablets like the Tab S7 through Tab S10.

Design-Driven Decisions
It’s believed that Samsung’s decision to drop Bluetooth may be driven by the design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. With rounded corners and a slightly smaller stylus to fit within the device, the company may have opted to sacrifice Bluetooth functionality to preserve the sleek aesthetics of the phone. While this design choice may appeal to users seeking a more streamlined device, it could alienate those who rely heavily on the S Pen’s remote control capabilities.
This change could also discourage some Galaxy Ultra users from upgrading. Samsung likely has insight into the usage frequency of these features and appears to view this trade-off as necessary for the phone’s design evolution. However, it remains to be seen how users will respond to this modification.
As Samsung prepares for the launch of the Galaxy S25 series, the focus will shift to other enhancements and innovations that the device has to offer.
