Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Launches First “Chief Minister Minority Card”
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif officially inaugurated Pakistan’s first “Chief Minister Minority Card” in a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex on Wednesday.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide financial assistance to 50,000 minority families, each receiving Rs. 10,500 every three months. The program is set to expand, eventually benefiting 75,000 families.
In addition to the Minority Card, the government has increased festival grants for minority communities from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 and raised the annual development budget for these communities by 60%, showcasing a strong commitment to inclusivity and welfare.

During the launch, CM Maryam Nawaz distributed the cards to recipients and observed a live transaction made at an ATM using Sonia Bibi’s card, marking a significant step in the program’s implementation.
Religious leaders from various faiths, including Bishop Nadeem Kamran, Sardar Saranjit Singh, and Pandit Lal, offered prayers for the initiative’s success. Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora expressed heartfelt gratitude in Punjabi, applauding the Chief Minister’s dedication to improving the lives of minority groups in Punjab.
