Today, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) opened the fiscal year 2024-25 with slight losses against the US Dollar, starting at 278 in the interbank market. Throughout the day, it remained stable but ultimately closed lower against the greenback. The interbank rate held steady at 278/$ for most of the trading session before ending unchanged. In the open market, rates also stayed consistent at 278 across various currency counters.

The PKR depreciated by 0.01%, closing at 278.37 after a minor loss of three paisas against the dollar today. Year-to-date, the rupee has appreciated by 2.73%. However, since January 2023, it has seen an overall decline of Rs. 51.03, and since April 2022, a decrease of Rs. 95.03 against the US Dollar.

During today’s interbank trading, the PKR showed mixed performance against other major currencies. It remained stable against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), while gaining 35 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) and 47 paisas against the British Pound (GBP). Conversely, it lost 51 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and 70 paisas against the Euro (EUR).

Overall, the day saw the PKR facing fluctuations against various currencies, highlighting ongoing dynamics in the foreign exchange market.
