According to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), remittances from overseas Pakistanis surged by 25% year-on-year (YoY) to $3 billion in January 2025, compared to $2.4 billion in January 2024. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, remittances saw a slight 3% decline, down from $3.08 billion in December 2024.

Major Sources of Remittances
A breakdown of the inflows from key regions is as follows:
- Saudi Arabia – $728 million (24% YoY increase)
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) – $622 million (53% YoY increase)
- United Kingdom (UK) – $444 million (22% YoY increase)
- European Union (EU) countries – $354 million (22% YoY increase)
- United States (US) – $298 million (5% YoY increase)
7MFY25 Remittances See 32% Growth
For the first seven months of FY25 (7MFY25), total remittances jumped by 32% YoY to $20.85 billion, compared to $15.8 billion in 7MFY24.
This steady rise in remittance inflows highlights the growing financial contributions of overseas Pakistanis, providing crucial support to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
