Toyota has officially introduced the GR Supra MkV Final Edition in California, marking the swan song for the fifth generation of its iconic sports car.

With a price tag of $69,085 (including delivery), the American Final Edition is more affordable than its Japanese and European A90 counterparts — but that savings comes with a noticeable reduction in engine power.

Under the Hood: Less Power, More Debate

The U.S. version of the Final Edition is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine generating 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. That’s a 47-hp deficit compared to the 429-hp A90 Final Edition models exclusive to Japan and Europe.

This difference has sparked mixed reactions among Supra fans, raising questions about whether the lower price justifies the performance cut.

Bold Looks Make a Statement

While the power may be toned down, the Final Edition remains visually striking. It features:

  • 19-inch matte black wheels
  • Carbon fiber rear spoiler and mirror caps
  • Red accents throughout
  • Alcantara-trimmed interior

These upgrades not only enhance aesthetics but also improve aerodynamic performance — making it both track-friendly and street-stylish.

Limited Numbers, Spring 2025 Launch

Toyota plans to produce only 900 units of the MkV Final Edition for the North American market, compared to just 150 units of the higher-powered A90 Final Edition for Japan and Europe.

The MkV is expected to arrive in U.S. showrooms by spring 2025, and production will officially cease in 2026.

Showdown: Supra vs. Nissan Z NISMO

The Supra Final Edition lands in a competitive space, facing off against the Nissan Z NISMO, which starts at $66,890. Nissan has taken the early sales lead in 2024, moving 3,100 Z units compared to 2,600 Supras.

This Final Edition might help Toyota close the gap before the much-anticipated sixth-generation Supra hits the market.

A Fitting Goodbye or a Missed Opportunity?

The GR Supra MkV Final Edition offers an eye-catching blend of style and performance, but the scaled-back engine could disappoint performance purists. Whether it’s seen as a well-priced collector’s item or an underpowered sendoff, the spotlight now shifts to what Toyota has in store for the next-generation Supra.
