In recent days, sports fans across Pakistan have been drawn into the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, with cricket becoming the latest casualty. The controversy began following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which India blamed on Pakistan—despite lacking concrete evidence. In retaliation, major Indian broadcasters such as Sony Sports Network, Fancode, and Cricbuzz halted all coverage of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in India.

Despite the strained diplomatic climate, Pakistani cricket fans could still enjoy Indian Premier League (IPL) matches through Tapmad—the official IPL streaming partner in Pakistan. The platform continued airing popular games, including the much-anticipated CSK vs SRH match, offering some reprieve to local cricket lovers.

However, this access was short-lived. On Saturday, Tapmad announced it would cease streaming IPL matches in Pakistan. The decision came just a day after Indian broadcasters pulled PSL coverage, clearly indicating a tit-for-tat retaliation.

Tapmad’s move is being viewed as a symbolic response to India’s media blackout of Pakistani cricket content, underscoring how political tensions are now influencing cultural and sports exchanges. For now, Pakistani viewers will miss out on live IPL action, as the political fallout from the Pahalgam incident continues to ripple across borders and into the realm of sports.
