Amid rising hostilities with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the nation following an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), convened to assess the security landscape and formulate a strategic response to recent Indian military actions.

The NSC meeting, currently in session, includes top military leaders, civilian officials, and key institutional representatives, focusing on Pakistan’s defense strategy. The crisis was triggered by India’s launch of “Operation Sindoor,” a series of airstrikes claiming to target terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Pakistani officials report the strikes killed at least 26 civilians—including women and children—and injured 46 others, damaging homes and mosques.

In a strong retaliation, Pakistan’s military has shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-30, and destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters. Pakistani forces have also hit multiple Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC).
