A Pakistani Air Force J-10 fighter jet, supplied by China, reportedly shot down two Indian military aircraft on Wednesday, according to two U.S. officials cited by Reuters. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the officials confirmed with high confidence that the aircraft used air-to-air missiles during the engagement.

Among the downed aircraft was at least one French-made Rafale jet, according to one of the officials. However, India has not confirmed the loss of any aircraft. Instead, Indian authorities stated that they had carried out precision strikes on what they termed “terrorist infrastructure” inside Pakistani territory.

French companies Dassault Aviation, which manufactures Rafale jets, and MBDA, producer of the Meteor missile system, were unavailable for comment due to a national holiday in France.
