In a gesture of patriotism and gratitude, Javed Afridi, Chairman of Peshawar Zalmi and the Zalmi Foundation, has pledged PKR 50 million to Pakistan’s Air Defenders, whose vigilance helped avert a major crisis during recent India–Pakistan tensions.
This announcement coincides with a challenging period for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, which the PCB suspended indefinitely following drone sightings near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and broader security alerts. Matches were postponed, foreign players began departing, and the tournament was put on hold.

“Their unwavering courage, dedication, and sacrifice are the heartbeat of our national pride,” Afridi said. “Today, we honour them not just with words, but through meaningful action.” The Zalmi Foundation, traditionally focused on social welfare, has redirected its support toward the nation’s defenders, offering tangible financial recognition.
Afridi’s contribution underscores a collective shift in focus from cricket to national security, even as franchises await word on when PSL 10 will resume. His move is being hailed as a symbol of unity and deep respect for those safeguarding Pakistan’s skies.
