Pakistan will commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, to mark the day the nation became a nuclear power.
This historic day recalls the successful nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in Chaghi, Balochistan, making Pakistan the first Muslim-majority country and the seventh globally to acquire nuclear weapons.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed as a symbol of national pride, celebrating Pakistan’s scientific and defense milestones. The day is annually marked by official ceremonies, political addresses, and media tributes, acknowledging the contributions of the country’s scientists and leadership in achieving nuclear capability.
