KP Government Tightens School Security After Deadly Balochistan Bus Attack
In the wake of a tragic attack on a school bus in Balochistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has significantly enhanced security measures across all educational institutions in the province.
A comprehensive security advisory has been issued, with particular focus on schools located in high-risk areas such as Peshawar. The Education Department, in collaboration with district administrations and local police, has launched an emergency security initiative to protect students, teachers, and school staff.
Special Secretary for Education Qaiser Alam emphasized that all District Education Officers (DEOs) and school principals have been instructed to carry out thorough security assessments of their premises.
“We are fully committed to utilizing every resource to safeguard our students and educators,” he stated. “A coordinated security framework is being developed with the support of police and district officials.”

Under the updated security protocols, all schools are now required to install monitoring systems at entry and exit points, deploy trained security personnel, and implement round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Additionally, schools must conduct awareness sessions on safety procedures, introduce emergency alert systems, and establish well-defined evacuation plans.
These heightened precautions follow a devastating suicide bombing near Zero Point in Khuzdar on the Karachi-Quetta National Highway. At least five people, including three children, were killed when explosives planted in a roadside vehicle were detonated remotely as a school bus passed by. Several others sustained injuries in the attack.
Authorities confirmed the explosion was deliberately timed as the school bus approached the vehicle. A full investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
