A 25-year-old man who escaped during the recent mass jailbreak at District Malir Jail has died by suicide in Madni Colony, Mauripur. Identified as Raza, a resident of Ranchor Line, he was found hanging inside his sister’s home. Authorities moved the body to Civil Hospital for medico-legal procedures. According to Mauripur SHO Sardar Ali Abbasi, Raza was alone at the time of the incident.
Raza had been imprisoned in a narcotics case registered at Eidgah police station in March 2022. He was among more than 200 inmates who fled during the large-scale jailbreak that occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday night, sparking a widespread search operation. So far, 126 of the escapees have either been re-arrested or returned voluntarily, while around 90 are still at large.
