Motorola Launches Moto G66j 5G in Japan with Military-Grade Durability and 120Hz Display

Motorola has officially launched its new mid-range smartphone, the Moto G66j 5G, in Japan. The device stands out with its rugged build, featuring IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance and MIL-STD-810H military certification, making it one of the most durable smartphones in its category.

Specifications and Features

The Moto G66j 5G is equipped with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ LCD display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and 391 PPI pixel density, ensuring smooth visuals. Security is handled via a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor, the phone includes two high-performance cores at 2.6GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. It comes with 8GB of RAM, expandable up to 24GB with RAM Boost, and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card up to 2TB.

In terms of photography, the Moto G66j 5G features a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, it houses a 32MP selfie camera enhanced by quad-pixel technology for improved low-light performance. The phone supports Full HD video recording at 60fps (rear) and 30fps (front).

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, dual SIM support (nano SIM/eSIM), and FM Radio. Other notable features are stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual microphones, ThinkShield security, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for added screen protection.

Price and Availability

The Moto G66j 5G will be available in three Pantone-inspired colors: Black Oyster, Dill, and Gray Mist. It is set to go on sale starting July 10 in Japan for JPY 34,800 (~$220).

Motorola is also releasing an identical version under the name Moto G66y 5G for Y! Mobile. A global launch is anticipated soon under the name Moto G66 5G.
