Google has officially announced its next major hardware launch event will take place on August 20, confirming recent leaks and rumors. At the event, the tech giant is set to unveil the Pixel 10 smartphone lineup along with a series of new devices.

What to Expect

The spotlight will be on Google’s latest smartphones, including:

  • Pixel 10
  • Pixel 10 Pro
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL
  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold

In addition to phones, Google is expected to launch the Pixel Watch 4 and may reveal the Pixel Buds 2a, a successor to its budget-friendly wireless earbuds.

Tensor G5 Chipset Debuts

All Pixel 10 models will be powered by the Tensor G5, Google’s next-gen processor. Notably, this will be the first Tensor chip manufactured by TSMC, marking a move away from Samsung’s fabrication process. This shift is expected to deliver better thermal performance, lower power consumption, and enhanced efficiency.

New Features & Accessories

Camera upgrades are expected across the board, with macro photography support on both ultrawide and telephoto lenses. The Pixel 10 lineup will also introduce support for “Pixelsnap” magnetic accessories. Unlike Apple’s MagSafe, the magnetic system will be built into select cases, not the phones themselves.

Pixel 9 Recap

The Pixel 9 series launched in 2024 was praised for its clean Android experience and smart camera features. However, the Tensor G3 chip received criticism for overheating and limited performance improvements, and battery life under stress was also an issue.

With the Pixel 10, Google aims to resolve these concerns and offer a more refined flagship experience.

The originally rumored launch date of August 13 turned out to be inaccurate, but the now-confirmed August 20 date aligns with other credible leaks—adding to the trend of accurate predictions surrounding Pixel devices.
