The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has further extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of June 2025. Taxpayers can now submit their returns up to August 8, 2025, provided that the sales tax liability has already been deposited within the original due date.
This latest extension, originally set for July 18, 2025, and later moved to August 4, 2025, comes under the authority granted to the FBR by Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005.

FBR has issued formal instructions to all Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, including those at Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs), to ensure compliance with this extended deadline.
The extension offers additional relief to taxpayers who have fulfilled their payment obligations on time but need extra time for return filing due to operational or administrative delays.
