Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for rain, wind, and thunderstorms affecting various parts of the country from February 16–17, 2026 due to an incoming westerly weather system.

Weather System Moving In

A shallow westerly wave is expected to enter western Pakistan on the evening of February 16, bringing unstable conditions that will spread rainfall and gusty winds across several regions through February 17.

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in many areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Zhob, Kalat, Turbat, Gwadar, Kech, Panjgur, Awaran, Khuzdar and surrounding districts from Monday evening into Tuesday.

Authorities also warn of possible hailstorms in parts of northern and central Balochistan during this period.

Sindh and Southern Regions

The wet weather will spread eastward on February 17, bringing showers, rain, and thunderstorms to Sindh’s urban belt, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur and nearby districts. Windy squalls with dust-raising gusts may accompany the rain.
