At least two Chinese citizens were killed and one injured in a bombing near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The Chinese Embassy issued a statement regarding the attack, which specifically targeted a convoy transporting staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company late on Sunday night around 11 pm.
Beijing condemned the incident, describing it as a terrorist attack, and extended condolences to the victims’ families. The Chinese government also pledged to cooperate with Pakistani authorities to address the situation. According to the embassy, the convoy was carrying Chinese engineers involved in a power project in Sindh province.

Following the attack, the embassy activated an emergency response plan, calling for a thorough investigation. They also urged Pakistani officials to enhance security measures for Chinese citizens and enterprises operating in the country.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the bombing, stating that they deliberately targeted a “high-level convoy of Chinese engineers and investors.” The group identified the attackers as members of its Majeed Brigade.
In the wake of the attack, the Chinese Embassy advised its citizens in Pakistan to remain vigilant and promised a comprehensive investigation to ensure accountability for those responsible.
The attack has heightened concerns in Islamabad, as the Port Qasim Power Generation project is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key multi-billion-dollar initiative that includes projects in Balochistan.
