BYD’s premium brand Denza has pulled the curtain back on its latest creation—the Denza Z—at Auto Shanghai in China. Though labeled a concept, this futuristic four-seater coupe appears close to production and could pose serious competition to high-end sports cars like the Porsche 911.

Futuristic Engineering: Smart Suspension and AI Steering

A major highlight of the Denza Z is the debut of Denza’s DiSus-M suspension system—the first intelligent magnetorheological body control system tailored for electric vehicles. This advanced tech scans road conditions thousands of times per second, automatically adjusting the suspension for optimal handling and comfort.

The Z also introduces China’s first fully self-developed steer-by-wire system, which uses artificial intelligence to learn and adapt to a driver’s unique habits. Despite being AI-powered, the system still preserves authentic road feedback for a natural driving experience.

To enhance safety, the Denza Z features a retractable steering wheel designed to fold away in the event of a severe collision, providing emergency responders easier access to the driver.

Supercar Looks, Fully Electric Heart

The exterior design of the Denza Z pays homage to legendary supercars. Lamborghini-inspired lighting, Ferrari-like curves, and bold aerodynamic elements—including fender vents, a large rear wing, and striking yellow accents—give the Z an unmistakable presence. Despite being fully electric, it maintains the proportions and stance of a traditional mid-engine sports car.

Race-Inspired Interior Meets Next-Gen Tech

Inside, the Denza Z offers a performance-focused cabin with carbon-fiber bucket seats and four-point harnesses. The seats are upholstered in a blend of microfiber and leather, offering a balance of sportiness and sophistication.

The cockpit features a high-tech layout, including a digital driver’s display, a large central infotainment screen, and an extra display for the front passenger. Below the main screen, a sleek row of physical controls complements a sharply angled center console equipped with additional buttons and the gear selector.

When Can We Expect the Denza Z?

While no official production date has been confirmed, the Denza Z looks nearly ready for the road. Denza, originally a joint venture with Mercedes-Benz, now operates independently under BYD and is preparing for international expansion. A 2025 launch is expected in new global markets, although it’s unclear if the Z will be part of that initial rollout.
